Note for:   Maud Kathleen CLASSICK,   28 APR 1888 - 27 DEC 1973         Index
Burial:
     Date:   29 DEC 1973
Place:   Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas

Note:   Maude was an only child. The Classicks were English. Her father died
when she was very young. One family story alleges that he left when he
got some money and sold everything and bought a saloon. Maude moved to
Indianapolis with her mother when she was young. Her mother got a job
with the Railroad as a signal-woman. They lived in Indianapolis for
quite a while. She married William Gray Cooper in Indianapolis, Marion
County, Indiana. Family tradition holds that she met William Gray Cooper
when he was in town. [He was a gambler and didn't stay long]. He
proposed marriage shortly after they met and Maude's mother said "you
won't get an offer like that very often" so she took him up on it. They
settled in Missouri together and William bought her a farm. They lived
there until William moved the family to the Eureka Kansas area, where she
lived out her life.[McNutt5.FTW]
